The Setting
At 1,220 metres above the plains, Naukuchiatal is the quietest of the Kumaon lakes. Its waters fold into nine corners - each one catches the light differently as the day moves through the valley. It is said that whoever sees all nine at once will be granted moksha. Most who come here are content with the third or the fourth. Willowdale sits a short walk above the lake, on a private hillside ringed by oak, deodar and pine. The nearest town is a kilometre away. The nearest sound is often a woodpecker.
A Private Home
The Family
This is not a hotel. It is a private home, lived in and loved, opened to those who want to stay a while. Aahana, Neha and Anuj Chhabra carry three generations of Kumaon hospitality here - from Hotel Maharaja in Nainital to Misty Mountains in Jhaltola. The stonework took two years and a team of local artisans to finish. Stay slowly. Leave changed.

In Their Own Words
We were literally in the clouds - and they change so many times a day, that's the best part of the weather here.
You come as a customer, live as a guest, and leave as family.
Eight Rooms, Each Different
Every arch, every veranda, has been drawn to frame the landscape rather than compete with it. This is Willowdale.
